In observance of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Penn's Abramson Cancer Center and Penn Gastroenterology encourage colorectal cancer screenings for everyone over 50. Screening can help prevent colorectal cancer or diagnose the disease early, when treatment is most effective. At Penn Medicine, all colonoscopy screenings are performed by gastrointestinal endoscopists with extensive training and experience. Colonoscopy screenings are available at Penn Medicine Radnor, Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and the Ruth and Raymond Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine.

The Philadelphia Antiques Show Benefits the Penn Ovarian Cancer Research Center
The Philadelphia Antiques Show, founded in 1962, features 50 leading antique dealers and galleries and is considered the premier American show for fine furniture, folk art and decorative arts, with a special emphasis on Americana. The 2011 show marks the show’s 50th year as the major fundraiser for Penn Medicine in support of innovative programs that directly impact patient care.
This year, show proceeds benefit the Penn Regional Ovarian Cancer Network and Ovarian Tumor Processing Facility, a major initiative led by the Penn Ovarian Cancer Research Center. The center aims to make innovative immunotherapeutic ovarian cancer treatment available to more women in the Philadelphia region. Immunotherapy uses T-cells from patients’ own tumors to develop vaccines that help fight the disease. This personalized therapy improves survival rates and offers women affected by ovarian cancer better quality of life.
